ARD Noise Testing

Post by AlexOwens » Sat Mar 09, 2019 9:41 am

Would anyone be able to advise me of the rev range for noise testing at the upcoming ARD? I think ACU standards are something around 5K RPM for a 1000cc bike, however if this could be confirmed I would appreciate it. I'm hoping my rather "spirited" Racefit can will come in just under 105db... fingers crossed.

Noise Test engine speed for a 4 cyl 1000cc bike is 5500rpm... I respect your optimism at hoping a Racefit can will pass, best look for a baffle tube ahead of the ARD...

HI
Is noise static or drive-by?
What's the limit?
Is it "2 strikes" rule?
Cheers

Static only 105db

No 2 strike rule, if your bike is excessively noisy on track then you may find yourself retested and potentially removed from the event (i.e. don’t get noise tested with baffles in and then think you are clever by taking them out!)

The future of our events hinges largely on keeping everyone happy including local residents, putting the ARD in jeopardy due to noise complaints will not go down well.

Is there any way I could get my bike noise tested around Odiham before I commit to the ARD?

If it fails I will volunteer for recovery again.

I'm not sure about the Odiham area, but if you had the time to get it up to Castle Combe on a Wednesday (when they run bike trackdays) they could test it for you there.. (best phone the circuit to confirm availability before travelling over for it)

Cheers Scotty,

I was 102db with 45mm Termis on my 916. I now have 50mm Termis so they might be a bit louder.

I was hoping the club had the testing kit.
